Occupational Safety and Health Hazards
The course is structured into six key modules, each focusing on a different aspect of occupational safety and health. It begins with an introduction to occupational hazards, laying the groundwork for understanding the various risks present in workplace environments. From there, it explores the distinction between physical and psychosocial risks, helping learners recognize both tangible dangers and mental health stressors that may affect workers. The third module delves into chemical hazards and toxicology, offering insights into how toxic substances impact health and how to manage exposure. Following that, the course examines biological hazards, including the chain of infection and strategies for containment. In the fifth module, learners study international standards for exposure limits—such as Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL), Workplace Exposure Limits (WEL), and Occupational Exposure Limits (OEL)—to understand how different countries regulate worker safety. Finally, the course wraps up with practical approaches to risk assessment and mitigation, equipping participants with tools to evaluate and reduce hazards in their own workplaces.
